Hometown police officer dies in motorcycle crash

A sad day for sure. There has been quite a few motors killed or badly injured in So Ca lately. LAPD had one get crushed between two cars a couple of days ago. The officer is still critical and it does not sound good.

May both of these motor cops rest in peace.
Best job I EVER had was getting paid to ride a motor.
Like most truly exciting and fun things to do in life, the danger is ever present.
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to their families.

Update on the LAPD motor officer. He died yesterday,,,,,.

Remember the thread I started about three weeks ago regarding the Marine that was killed by the drunk turning in front of him? Well I talked with the investigating officer this week. The REAL reason the guys helmet came off was not due to his failure to secure the strap. What happened was the helmet strap tore his lower jaw off and his brain was evacuated from his skull and was in the helmet with the top of his skull cap. NOT pretty but that is what happened!

I'm not flaming you, muleskinner, but why in the world do we have to be subjected to such graphic descriptions of poor unfortunates that used to enjoy our common pastime? Notwithstanding your professional interest and/or affiliation, I would imagine that many others here would find these extraneous postings about fellow riders' death, mutilation or dismemberment to be ineffective and oddly oblique ways of preaching safety, if not just outright morbid.

We all know how dangerous riding a bike is, so what's the purpose of posting such things?

If it's a member of this online community that's had an accident, been injured or worse, that's one thing - I think that most other members here would want to know about it. Frankly, when it comes to the misfortunes of other riders, I for one, think that its undesirable and at times gratuitous to be slapped over the head with such negative, bad or sad news.
