Crank angle sensor. Little black thing near the starter motor , attached with an 8mm ? bolt under the bike. Chances of it being this> ? pretty small IMO. Much more likely to be primary TPS.
Thanks for the quick reply Blasted, i have txt him , he said triumph originally done a warranty change on this for the upgrade , not sure if true , is the primary the front or rear one

Just as a FWIW, I have a standard '09 which apparently should have been fitted with the new style primary TPS, - but I guess the guy who fitted mine hadn't read the meemo.
My high idle issue had been getting steadily worse, so I unbolted the TPS to take a look to see if there were any obvious issues. What I found was that it had been 'lubricated' inside with what looked like heavy duty axle grease - some of which had dried out and solidified. I used CRC MAF Cleaner (becasue it's a gentle cleaner) to soften the grease and a Q-tip to scoop it out. I then sprayed in more cleaner and turned the inner rotor from stop to stop a few times to work the cleaner in.
After drying and resetting with TuneECU it appears to work fine (300 miles since the work). Can the cause of the issue and the fix be this obvious?
