Hi from Texas

Goodfellow

Are the holes for the headers not Heli-coiled?? They should be since the block is aluminum. If it is the heli-coil is probably SS and that is why your SS bolts are gulling.

Second is the bolt the only thing gulled or does it mess the treads inside also? I can tell you I don't like using SS bolts were you have to torque or remove often because contrary to general belief your every day 316SS bolt is soft unless you get in the 400 or above range and is famous for gulling.

I would go with a hardened heat treated bolt. It is strong wont gull and the heat treating makes it more resilient to rusting.
Hope this helps and I didn’t give any miss leading info

I went to your page and looked at your clamps, very nice workmanship, ...
He does make a couple fine articles!

Hey Chief watch out for his stuff cause he spit polishes em and may leave some dribble....if I could just see how the tourer looks without the bags, a regular tank...
A Tourer? You don't have a Tourer without all that other "stuff", and a "regular tank" is what capacity? I was unaware of choices in tank sizes. Please elaborate.

Do you use SS steel bolts with your aluminum parts?

Paul, yes I use SS bolts with aluminum parts. ...
I must have lost the train of thought here; or, there was another server adjustment? Yeah, it was probably a brain fart.
