2008 Rocket III Touring
2 weeks ago, a 2008 Rocket III Touring became mine and I drove it from Wild West Honda back to my home in San Antonio. It burbled and popped but I didn't notice the incredibly lumpy idle. I figured out immediately though that it was an aftermarket (Jardine) exhaust. I figured it was a tune issue so I drove to Austin today to get it retuned. Its a bit better but now the power seems to be down.
Is there anyone in the SA area with a tuneboy that has some time to help a nOOb out?
Is there meetups (my last bike was a Valkyrie I/S and we met once a month somewhere in Houston) in the area for RIII owners?

G'day and welcome. There is a tune by PowerTripp floating around that will make your bike roar like the beast it is supposed to be, although you may also need to put triple filters or a ramair filter on to get the very best out of the beast. The tune is also in TuneECU format so you can install it for free if you haven't paid for TuneBoy.

Have not paid anything but 45 bucks to a triumph dealer to upload a tune (and up to 5 more in the next 6 months) sounds like I should have bought a cable instead!

How much does the Tripp tune negatively affect mileage while cruising?

Welcome Drew. I'm sure you'll get her running properly before too long. Triumph tunes tend to be on the lean side - hence all the popping etc - so loading something else will be the way to go. Have to say though that not too many of us worry too much about mileage out of a 2300cc bike, apart from it being an indicator of how well it's running......;) I let mine drink as much as it needs.

Welcome from Virginia Drew, good luck with the tune and hope you get used to the permanent smile a Rocket gives us all...
