Got the infamous “click click” when starter button operated.
Seems to be more help on here than any other forum.
Waiting for a starter relay to come into stock at Triumph dealer.
If that doesn’t cure it I think next step will be the clutch switch assembly.

If it is clicking that means that all of the safety components are working like side stand, clutch switch, starter button, nuetral switch.
Ti.e to use a volt meter at the starter relay.
Now you can remove the starter relay and use a jumper wire number 30 to number 87 and that will bypass all safetys including the nuetral switch.you can also check voltage on relay at number 30.

More than likely you have a voltage problem..
Can be anywhere from ignition. To the starter solenoid..
Also before the starter relay is activated (most of the early bikes)had the lights going through that relay so you might be able to use the head lights to see if they are working good.
Do a few checks and then you can ask more questions

Ps if you are losing voltage there is a way to piggyback relays.

Changed the solenoid connections twice, new battery positive and earth cables, new (non Triumph) starter relays, checked and cleaned earth points, checked clutch switch and cleaned but haven’t checked resistance yet. New battery. Just waiting for genuine Triumph starter relays to arrive.
(Have been told it has to be a genuine relay and a standard 40A 5 pin relay won’t do).
Headlights go out when starter button pressed as they should do.
Bike has done 10,000 miles so virtually nothing.
Thanks for your input.
I’ll wait for the relay and get back with results !

Being a 2008 if the headlight power is still running through the ignition barrel the ignition key switch has likely desoldered contacts. If the headlight bypass relay was installed then it's most likely the starter relay. What is not happening is the full voltage of the battery getting to the post on the starter. That power is supplied by the starter relay closing, and the starter relay to close requires power from the ignition switch barrel to energize the starter relay coil and that contact could be desoldered and loose inside the key switch barrel. So you'll need to check that if the new starter relay doesn't fix the problem.

Which relay that is the best remains to be a secret.
Any 12 5pin relay will work.
You can remove the cover and install the relay then try to start measuring the volts on pin 30.. inside the relay there is a little arm with points on each side one for lights and the other for starter the solenoid. You can see it work and check the volts.
Also a 4 prong relay will work to start it you will not have lights so for checking purposes you can use a 4prong relays
