HELP PLEASE! Rear tire assembly

Got my tire off no problem.

New tire and balance.

Putting it back on wasn't hard.

BUT...

How far should the gear slide into the left side?

I have the caliper and spacer on and tight but it seems there are some ridges that the hub should slide into further.

Please, any immediate help would be great!!!

Here's a few names....

SM....... Drop a PM to either Rusty or Toystoretom. They've both taken off a few rear tires and could probably answer your question right away.

If you got the caliper support and the spacer in without a fight, you should be OK. There might even be a small amount of space between the spacer and the swing arm before the axle is tightened. Also make sure the wheel spins freely before dropping on the ground...and don't forget to pump up that rear brake! Bigern

Well, took the advice... tightened everything up and took off for a ride. Everything seemed fine.

Still the left side hub looks strange to me. Seems that the wheel should snug up better against the hub. There are 3 ridges visable.

Sounds like you got everything right, it does look a little strange. Your eyes tell you that the black hub on the wheel should slide up to the inside of the rear hub on the driveshaft side. but if all the spacers are correct it has to be properly aligned.

yup good to roll. i had the same deal. looks like it wants to ride closer but iv had mine off twice now and thats just the way it is.

I rode into work and the wheel didn't fall off so I consider that a successful test.

I hope this Metzler last longer than the last.

most likely, it won't last any longer........

spaceman, the new Metz has a life expentancy of "less" than the first.

Reason, as time goes by & you spend more time aboard the Rocket, you become more comfortable & confident in your "wrist wickedry" and therefore, the rear wheel tends to see more "torque" than the rubber of the Metz sees "grip" with the asphalt.

Hense, tire spin (not even noticable most of the time), hense, faster wear, hense, happier rider, hense, another Metz. Then the process starts all over again.

I had an Avon on order for over a month. Started seeing cords so I changed back to a Metzler.

All my wear was in the center of the tire. Maybe I need to lean more.
