Helmet Input, Please!

Owl, I have been eyeing the Joe Rocket RKT 101 Carbon Transtone fullface lid. It is made by and modelled after HJC's FS-15 Carbon lid.

Perdurabo has suggested that you own one of these lids, Tom and that i might solicit your feedback on the same. I was actually able to try on the HJC model at the bike show in NYC last wekend and I must say that although it falls short of the Arai i have and the Bell Star I recently lost in an accident, for $230 US, it appears to be an attractive buy, mostly because it matches up to the color of my Mulberry Mistress quite nicely!

I have one of those and love it! I have had mine for over a year and can't complain one iota! I also bought the dark tinted shield for it as well. It is light, has plenty of air going through it and I recommended it to Owl. I bought mine here!

I legitimately wear a medium in accurately sized helmets, but found that the HJC lid runs about a full size large. Their small fit me very well and as the HJC rep said that the J Rocket version is slightly more oval in shape than their own, a small it must be for me!

Check their size chart. I wear a large, and their large fits me very well! Measure exactly where it calls for the measurement and it should fit correctly.

That's right - John recommended it, and I bought the bronze one & Binder was kind enough to bring it over to the UK on a visit.

Trying to be completely impartial,

Good points: the lightest helmet I've ever owned. very comfortable and fairly quiet, although not in the Schuberth league of quietness. Killer looks. Very easy to change visors. Good air flow system.

Bad points: there is no visor mechanism to keep it open a notch in rain & drizzle, so it starts to fog at slow city speeds. The seperate nose/mouth cover didn't work for me, as it came nowhere near my face, so couldn't make any sort of seal. At speeds of over 90 to 100 mph, a look over the shoulder will open the visor.

All in all, I like it a lot, and would certainly consider buying another one.

:wink: Lock the **** visor Owl it has a lock! :lol: Yea I don't like that separate nose piece either, but it does keep yer nose warm! :lol:

The buttons on the left hand side of the helmet, one locks the shield, one unlocks it! Oh WISE ONE! :lol: 8)

Ha!

Just had to go to the garage and try that.

Always wondered what that button was for - doesn't seem to make any difference whether it's up or down - visor still opens & shuts fairly smoothly, so I guess my button doesn't work.
