Thanks guys ..Lucky to be back, left Lakes entrance pissing down with rain and bike was twitchy a couple of times the day (Mon) before in the rain and just thought it was the greasiness of the road then yesterday (Tue) it felt weird going into right bends so just taking it real easy after having check tyre pressures etc.... put down to front tyre having some mysterious accelerated right hand wear, anyway I pressed on thinking the pushing feeling was possibly me not packing the trailer right in the rain, unusual in the fact that I pack everything exactly the same way every time, so after a very slow 250km ride to Pambula stopped at servo and stretched as I checked ever thing again then I looked at the front wheel I nearly sh!t myself the right hand side of the tyre was chewed to hell then I saw why (obviously not visible on the morning inspection due to being at bottom) there was bubble in between the carcass and thread about 15 inches long and 1 wide just off centre on right side De-Laminated Big Time!!!!!!. Went to nearest tyre service about a km away.. guess what he did not have any thing to suit, I got to him at midday he rang few other tyre service centre in nearby (35km) Bega in the hope of finding anything to fit the closet we could find was a on/off road rear tyre in 150/65/17.... I thought I would give that a miss so plan B was to give a mate a call back at Batemans Bay (180km away) and get him to grab my new spare front tyre from my garage (luckily I ordered two tyres last time and lucky Richard didn't take me up on the offer to try one on his bike) anyway while wating for Bryan to come with tyre another bike came in to tyre shop with a flat rear on the back off a NRMA road service truck so we already had my bike up on two jacks and front rim stripped so I gave the Shawn the Owner and sole person (did I mention that Pambula is a Small country town) running the centre a hand to get the rear wheel off this Yamaha 1100 cruiser, talk about a weird setup but we worked it out, we need the two jack under my bike so we put some axle stands under my girl and got the rear end out of the Yamahharley just as we finished doing this Bryan turned up with my tyre so on it went and took me all of 5 min to put back on bike mean while Shawn repaired the Tube in the Yamaharley and we proceeded to put it back together both Shawn and the owner (in his late sixties or early seventies) of the bike were grateful I stuck around cos it was as big a prick of a job to put back together, so at 7.30 PM we set of for home in the Still frigging pouring down Rain got home at 9.45pm to a very relieved Ann.
Oh did I mention the big buck Skippy that very nearly stopped the trip when leaving home back on the 19th glad you didn't come down Richard as you too might have had reason to clean your pants... good thing was "I missed it by this much" but in the avoidance maneuver set up a tank-slapper which the the 450kilo trailer didn't help luckily I managed to get it back under control!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like a "fun" time Hanso. I once saw a guy almost killed when he ran into a 'roo on his Husky dirt bike. Bike was totalled and the roo hopped away. Evasive action in the wet, towing a trailor. Really glad I missed that but especially glad you got through it all and home safely.
