Need for Speed
Hi folks. Bought a 2013 R3 Touring direct from the dealer and was disappointed with the power. A local performance shop dyno check measured only 88HP at the back wheel. Turns out, the secondary throttle plates are limited to 40% opening on the touring model. Luckily, the 2013 and older R3 tourings can be remapped thru the OBD port. Without any physical modifications, we achieved 120HP and 130ftlb torque (at the back wheel). Some D&D slip on exhausts (easy install) allowed us to finish with 128HP and 151ftlb of torque. Again, this is at the back wheel!! Note that the torque curve is insane and jumps up to max at only 2500 RPM. 1000lbs total with me and the misses and it tries so hard to pull up the front end... we have spun the back tire a few times on the straight and narrow roll ons. It is an amazing drive that puts instant torque at your command at low RPMs. I have gone through three back tires in 20K
Would not trade for but another R3... Cheers...K&N...
