Just bought an '08 classic, LOVE IT! WHAT A BEAST! Had a v-star 1300 but someone turned in front of me and that bike is history. I'm ok, just bruised. Good thing I had on all the proper equipment.
Learned a lot from reading posts but have some questions if anyone can help. Where is the best place to get parts/extras? Throttle lock, pass backrest and luggage rack? Does the backrest need any extra brackets to mount it? Is the luggage rack as short as it looks in the pics? If so where can I get a longer one? My kuryakyn bag probably won't fit. Thanks
Welcome from one of the Aussies ... be helpful if we knew what corner of the world you are from. Last Owner to sign up was from Egypt. Not really a great deal of options for parts for the Rockets ..Rivco has a few bits but no phonebook thick catologue . This often inspires Rocket Owners to design or modify stock parts to meet their needs ... one of the cool things about Rocket Owners i reckon.
Welcome to this great site along with some of the best Rocket Riders out there.
I am from Durham North Carolina an run a 2005 Rocket III , The Darkside, Jardine pipes. Triple K&N's and a Wayne Tripp tune. The Ol' Girl is gray with trible markings.
Lots of very smart people here, which I am not one of them..but you will find this is a very friendly place to find all about your new Monster.
Hi Mate and welcome from another Aussie........
As for the back rest/luggage rack goes. You could try to get your hands on some side brackets and fender covers then make the rest your self.........
Again mate,,,,,,,, welcome
Oh. And it does help to put your location in your profile, same with you JOEY
Hey Joey, been to N.C. and Tenn. twice this year I like it so much. I have a nephew in Raleigh, a niece in Greensboro, and my sister and her husband live in Statesville. Would sure like to retire up there someday. Went to Robbinsville the beginning of Oct. with 2 meetup groups from my area. We're going to make it an annual event.

Like Mex says,
come to Maggie Valley in May and meet some great folks.
then there's a few that aren't so great, I'm one of those.
But the "shine" is good, the rides are fun, and the comraddery is #1.
