I had the bike out last night. Do not know if my eyes are getting old or the oem bulbs are getting weak. Does not seem like there is a very long field of vision.
I live in a area where Bambi has relatives all over the place. I like to seem them as far in advance as possible.
There are super bright headlight bulbs on the market . Walmart carries some for cars by Sylvania . Question is has anyone tried this type of bulb and what is your reaction.

The OEM bulbs are limp with the juice they get. I bought a pair of 55W running lights ($15.00 Wal-Mart) and they put out 2X the light. The bulb isn't the problem, I think the wiring is too limited on amperage to light them fully. It's just my opinion.

I have the Sylvanias in mine. They improved things but really came to life after fitting the Eastern Beaver H4 Headlight Relay Kit.

I think you'll find there are two parts to this saga.

1) If you have an older R3 (pre 2008 iirc) then you will be best suited by doing the "relay conversion" using the eastern beaver beaver kit (or similar).
2) Assuming that's not your issue then you can try high luminescence solutions.

BUT do not be tempted to put in bulbs that draw more than the normal 55/60W, otherwise you risk damaging things. Small & Plastic reflectors do not like excessive heat.

I'm running Phillips 4100K bulbs - more light and more visible light (ie less heat) 55/60W.

He is exactly right about the wiring. Here is a before and after of mine, same bulbs just added the eastern beaver relays.
