Hard engine breakin

I know castrol has a synthetic blend MC oil. I think this is what they factory fill it with. Do you guys think that is still to much synthetic? If so what would be a good break in oil that's readily available?

I've always broken motors in on conventional oil and then swapped over to synthetic after. I don't really baby them around during the break in period either. I don't flog the hell out of them, but don't treat them as if they were fragile either.

Carpenter built my engine with new pistons and cams and then put it on the dyno straight away! The engine runs perfectly with no oil usage at all so I guess he knows his stuff as far as break-in is concerned!
No break-in period was recommended and no early oil change before the recommended interval.

Carpenter is the man. Can you tell me what kind of oil he first filed it with. Was it standard petroleum oil or a semi synthetic or full synthetic. I bought some conventional petroleum oil to change to tomorrow and start getting on the throttle to seat the rings.

A lot of companies use a special break in oil added at the factory or the dealer for the 1st 500-1000klms that does the job for you. After that you use the recommended oil.
