I did it myself .. really easy. Canadian Tyre bike lift and a torque wrench and 30 minutes. I didn't remove the muffler but I have smaller (shorter ) David Platt mufflers so I dont know about working space with the stock ones, shouldn't be a problem. Not sure about lowering the back end with shorter than stock shocks.. I think there are some posts on this board about shorter shocks .. from what I remember not a popular choice.
