I am in the process of installing the H4DRK-R3 Eastern Beaver headlight relay kit, and am confused with instructions regarding the Posi-Lock connectors.
1. Instructions say to "cut off the H4 Coupler (NOT THE SOCKET) on the Kit close to the coupler, and strip 3/8" from both yellow and white wires". Do the instructions refer to the under-tank coupler (there are two..one for left headlight and one for right), and attach the Posi-Locks to the white and yellow wires? My confusion lies in that the instructions say to cut the Coupler FROM THE KIT...should that not be to cut the stock coupler that is still wired to bike?

2. It also says that if I have dual H4 Headlights, I will only use one of the bike's HR Sockets?? Is that supposed to mean Couplers?

I tend to think that I am somewhat mechanically inclined, but these instructions are confusing me greatly. Any IMMEDIATE help would be greatly appreciated!

Better still...can someone who has installed the kit that came with the blue Posi-Locks just tell me what the Posi-Locks are for and what they connect to?

Yup. They connect to the low beam and high beam wires ONLY. When you pull the headlights trace the wires back to their two sockets. Each socket has 4 wires each that are color coded (so you have two sets of black, yellow, blue/red, blue/purple or something similar (you can get the codes from the manual)). The low beam is one wire (striped) the high beam another (striped) the position lights (the flashlight bulbs) are another (yellow) and then a ground wire (black). The H-4 kit specifies what wire colors in the kit go to the high and low beam on the H-4 connectors and which is ground. The posi-locks are connected to the high low wires from the kit and ONE of the socket connector wires you cut off from the head lights. It's important to leave plenty of wire from the OEM plug (which is why you are warned NOT to cut the plug off, you need some wire to strip that goes into that plug). You then plug the OEM connector back into one of the sockets on the OEM harness (doesn't matter which) and you have high and low beam. The headlights will shutoff when you hit the starter just like normal. You can use the other plug to reconnect the position lights by using some butt splices and some extra wire if you want to. I used heat shrink tube on the wires of the second plug to seal them and plugged it back in just to prevent water gettin into it.

If you look at the manual you'll see which wire colors on the OEM harness are low beam and high beam.

Thanks Atomsplitter....I actually figured it out and everything works fine. Instructions are not quite clear enough for me, but all is well. Thanks again.

I'll send Jim Davis a suggested instruction sheet because this comes up pretty often.
