Would someone put me wise here as i have been viewing forum and know there are different spec Rockets in some countries !!!But is there on all rockets a 5th gear rev limiter so if you change from 135 mph in fourth to fifth the revs will drop with the speed until 120 mph .

Also although i have just had a latest triumph tune 22 something for tors and cat bypass !! am going to go for a tuneboy soon !! which leads me to another question does tuneboy take out the above or is a resistor bypass needed ?? and how much is a tuneboy .

I have only covered 700 miles on my classic so have not been gunning it yet much .

Thanks for any replies

Yeah, sounds like you hit the speed limiter, snowy. It is set at 120 MPH for Classic and Touring Rockets. It is 140 MPH for standard Rockets. Like Rook said, Tuneboy will fix that up for you but be warned that the tires and equipment on the 120 MPH Rockets were not designed for running over those speeds.

Aren't the Classic tires and engine identical to the standard r3? I know the Triumph tunes are more restricted. I can see the obvious difference with the R3T, thinner tires etc.

Had mine well over 120 - doesn't seem like it's going to fall apart

I've heard the nonstandard Rockets use the H rated front Metzelers instead of V rated. Plus bikes with bags and windshields aren't meant to be going that fast without wobble issues hence the lower speed limiter. Triumph probably just afraid them floorboards will make the bike take flight at those speeds.

I was told off by a cop for running 130 on i75 in TN - WindVest, rollbags and no wobble. Obviously I need to go faster to take off!

Have to check on those tire ratings

You can't fly with the classic floorboards because they don't have the angle that the floorboards for the standard have!

We were doing 130 two up loaded with luggage on the way to Tahoe on my classic smooth as silk 8) But I do have a cooper zeon 225-50-16 on the rear instead of the metz

re

tHANKS FOR REPLIES

Riderrocketman , i was not refering to my classic as im breaking in still , but another thread .

That 120 restriction 5th gear (is this true) and for anyone with a classic that has the triumph downloads for de cat /pipes got rid of the restriction .

Classics have v rated tyres and same hp figures as standard rockets for those getting confused with touring models .

So wheres the best deal on a tuneboy

thanks
