Took a ride in to town the other day, going through the gears and suddenly could not find the gear change lever. Pulled over and found it hanging down.
So the bike is now stuck in fourth.
Triumph dealer wants £70 an hour plus parts, stating that it takes a minimum of 20 hours to do.
Or I can send it to Triumphant in South Wales who will do a full upgrade for £2800.
I'm gutted could really do without this expense but the bike is of no use like this. Triumph dealer said they have only heard of this happening on bikes that have been in a crash and have got a bent shaft.

That's bad news, mate.

How often do complete engines come up on ebay - you must be approaching the sort of sum that could buy one?

This happened to me some time ago Welshie. In my case the bolt that locates the (gear lever) shaft to the shifter mechanism had broken, (there was a reason for that)
I was told at the time that the common reason for this happening was that this particular bolt had just fallen out, apparently an operator/assembly person at the Factory was putting the locktite on the wrong part of the bolt !

Unfortunately it does require a complete strip down of the Engine to replace this little bugger !!

Have you thought of, or are you capable of doing this yourself ?
There's plenty of advice/help here to assist.

Recon engine is around £4500.
Triumphant change 120 parts when they do an upgrade, so I'm favouring that option I think.
If you add all the bits up buying them off triumph it would not be worth the hassle of doing it myself plus you need special tools to do it properly. A gasket set alone is £350
