Gas Gauge Issue

Any R3T owners ever experience a faulty gas gauge? I did a search and did not find this particular issue. I was downloading a tune and when completed I started my R3T up I noticed 2 things:

1 - the gas gauge never moved when I turned the key on

2 - after running for about 5 to 8 minutes, the gas gauge still read zero. In essence, the gas gauge was reading empty even though the tank was full.

I noticed a couple of times previously, when I filled up the tank, the gas gauge did not go to full but stopped at 3/4 full even though the tank was completely full.

I do not think I disturbed anything when downloading a tune (and resetting adapters) that would cause this problem. I am thinking I have either a faulty fuel sensor or a bad connection somewhere.
Everything else seems to be working OK. Thwe bike started right up and seems to be running OK. I did not have time to take it for a test ride due to the lateness of the day. I will take it for a spin tomorrow.

Anybody ever experience this, or have any thoughts?

Is it the same Triumph Accesorries gauge..if it is then it's crap..mines all over the place..full then empty..back to full..etc etc. Looks good thou..guess you cant have it all

Thanks for the response rayjay. No, this is not the acessory gauge. This is the fuel gauge built into the instrument cluster on the Rocket III Touring. I may pull the instrument cluster and check the connector. I will also look at the connector under the tank. It was just odd that the gauge failed hard after a "recovery" from a failed tune download. We will see what happens!

One fuse does the intrument cluster. It is good and the instrument cluster works fine with the exception of the fuel gauge. The gauge was a bit erratic on my last outing. It cleared itself up so I didn't worry too much about it. Now it is down hard. I guess that is good. It is easier to fix something that is broke!

My R3T has decided it only holds 3/4 of a tank. After a fill up it trakes about 10 minutes for gauge to move but stops at 3/4 tank.

Mine has never done anything like that. Its not the most accurate gauge made, but its always been consistent. I'd guess something is wrong with the sending unit inside the tank.

Well, here is an update.....,

Before I started pulling things apart, I thought I would take it for a ride. The gauge started working again but is not reading correctly. This has happened before. I can predict that at my next fill up, it will start working OK again. Time to log this issue with the dealer so they have record of the issue (warranty runs out in September) and can start getting a replacement unit.

I agree, the sending unit has an issue.

The waitng thing, however, is just part of the R3T's charm. Mine usually registers the fill-up within a mile or two. Sometimes sooner, sometimes not...

The link reveals "no matches found". Perhaps, you are short a number or two? I tried searching and cound not find anything regarding the issue I am having. Is the link to the direction on how to bend (adjust) the float? If so, that is not the issue I am having. All last year, the fuel gauge registered perfectly. Today it was acting as if it was unplugged. The needle never moved off "0" with a full tank of gas. Cycling through the info button showed "0" miles remaining. Of course, that is driven by the sending unit. This problem just started showing up. THis is the third time in the past two weeks the gauge seems to be non-responsive. All three times, it ended up clearing itself up over time. It is like the float is sticking

When you say the dealer can do a tune to make the gauge more accurate, do you mean download a tune? or are you referring to the "adjustment" to the float bar?
