I hear this is not uncommon. My fuel light comes on when the tank is about half full.
I bent down the float arm but this made no difference. I bent the float arm down some more but this also makes no difference.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm told this is the theory: There is a plate on the bottom of the fuel tank. The float kind of rests on this plate when its empty. I figured this was not too dissimilar to a stop cock on a toilet cystern. As the fuel level drops the float at the end of a wire goes down and when it gets below a certain level fuel light comes on (due to a drop in volltage
as the wire at the other end moves away from a connection) The float is at one end of the wire so the theory is when the wire is bend down, the float still moves up and down at one end of the wire but at the other end the connection is maintained longer and the voltage doesn't drop until the fuel level gets lower that it did before. Then the light comes on when there is less fuel in the tank.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. Am I doing something wrong or is the above not true.
