Fuel Float Arm - is locked in a position?

OK - had the lads over to rebuild my bike with its new bodywork on it including the fuel tank.

I filled it up with fuel and rode for about 30 miles before the reserve light came on.

Opened the fuel lid up and had a look in - sure enough, full of fuel.

Any ideas why the res light has come on?

Is it possible to lock it in a position when you take the fuel pump (and the rest of the sh&t inside the tank) out and put it in to the new tank?

The float arm is held in a stupid little clip…..(well, more like a little V ) about an inch up from its pivot point.

So far so good, now for the tricky bit.

When you refit the gubbins into the tank its dead easy to pop the float arm out of this little ‘V’. Sounds like this is what’s happened to you….

Its going to have to come out again…… :cry:
 
Or you bent the arm a bit removing / refitting .

Easily done , mine did the same :lol: :lol:
 
Ah, good point sully, I forgot it was Leigh's hands on the job..... :lol:

You could monitor it for a few tanks If it comes on consistently around the 30 mile mark, it’s a bent arm. If it comes on completely randomly its jumped out of the ‘V’
