Okay so I recently Purchased the Kuryakyn ISO Grips and Handlebar Locks
Items:
Part: 6262 1" Universal Grips Flame Style
and
Part: 6248 Helmet locks

I mainly got the kury grips because of the helmet lock you can fit on the end.

Basically as a first step remove the throttle houseing.

It comes off with a minimum of fuss with two on the back one on the front, DON'T unscrew the allen bolts, just the philips head screws.

Once this is done you need to pull the two cables that wrap around the throttle sleeve out of their little fittings. If anyone knows a better way other than getting some needle nose pliers and yanking the bastards out let me know.

Once the cables are off loosen the two allen bolts that hold the assembly on the bar just enough to slip the throttle sleeve from the housing.

Once thats done peel back the grip to expose those bastard little nubbies.

All these little critters need to be cut of and the throttle sleeve needs to be silky smooth and sanded down ALOT, do this in the lounge room while watching the footy, your wife will love you.

Keep Sanding
Keep Sanding
Keep Sanding
Check and make sure your trying to fit the right grip on the throttle sleeve, while it doesn't look like it one of the grips IS slightly larger.

Have argument with the wife over the mess your making in the lounge room

You get the picture, Also take off the tapered plastic rim on the throttle sleeve near the cable fixtures, do this with a stanley knife.

Once the sleeve is fitted to the grips it should look it should look like this

Notice the big black chunk hanging out the end of the grip, where all the cables fasten too.

Reassemble and voila, sick looking grips.

if it was me there would be one more step after
"You get the picture, Also take off the tapered plastic rim on the throttle sleeve near the cable fixtures, do this with a stanley knife."

apply bandage to sliced thumb, move lounge chair to cover blood stained carpet before wife see's it

... so the 6236 are a simple " plug and play"?

I have really wanted these, but have no desire to sand or pry anything on the bike for fear of buggering something up

This thread, while a most excellent documentary, is outdated and should not be used as a guide anymore. Kury is making models that will fit the Rocket without modification, sanding, etc.

my posts, while usefull at a time before rockets and their parts came in shrink wrap, shouldn't ever be listened too by anyone I know nothing about what I'm talking about and should bow to the infinite wisdom of those who have owned the rocket for less than a few months.

Hey Psy, no offense intended. I said it was "a most excellent documentary". It was great. I just pointed out that Kury has new models that supercede the ones you used and do not require the sanding procedures and are, more or less, plug and play.

You certainly have the aptitude to adapt products to fit the need and do a good job of sharing that knowledge. Please keep doing it. If you were offended, please accept my apology.

mate no offence taken from yourself, your exactly right and provided a sincere update to the thread ie - there are box products for this now, try these....

I'm more peeved at the fact ukroc dredged up a post a thousand years old to criticise how it was done and mention that there was a boxed product as if it was around when I did the mod.

does it matter how long we've owned

No not at all but ****ed if I'll take someone ****ting on how I've done something when they haven't done anything or posted howtos on anything, themselves, earn your stripes.
