Living Legend
When seals begin to leak this can be reduced or eliminated with leak prevention additives. The same is true using "high mileage engine oils". When I went for Tribology training at the Esso facility in Sarnia Ontario, they stated these additives actually work to swell the seals helping prevent/stop oil leaks. It was stated that they shouldn't cause the seals to fail since they were already leaking. The additive gave the seal some additional life and was a cheap fix alternative. The only issue Esso stated was related to stopping its use. The swollen seal will shrink back to the size it was and probably start leaking again.
