First time this has happened in 55K. Put bike level and opened filler bolt - still plenty oil in there (definitely only hypoind oil). About 2K since I changed final drive oil. Only thing different I can think of is the weather is now around 30 plus degrees - bike's running fine

Any ideas?

I agree, Ian, but I filled it and know it wasn't overfilled, and I've ridden at least a couple thousand since then, maybe more, with no issues - that's why I'm a little perturbed

global cooling?
maybe, of course it could only be evolution in action.
My guess is either the oil is evolving into an ambient air seeker,
or the air is evolving into an oil sucker...
Of course, it could just be over full too.
Your guess is as good as mine.

Feel the hub when you stop is it hot if it is excessively hot you have a problem if not then you have too much oil which just expanded slighltly and escaped it could also be obamas fault

Get rid of the Darkside and put the Metzler back on - should clear up the problem!

Just kidding, DC. If you KNOW the oil level is correct, then I think Valmac is onto something - the oil level is based on a normal heat range/expansion property of the oil - excess mechanical friction may be over-heating the oil (although a bad batch of oil isn't out of the question either). For grins, I'd change the oil again (using freshly bought oil) and see if it sorts itself, and then start pursuing the possibility of an over-heat. (but you're running out of riding weather up there aren't you?).

The hub is warm but not hot. It just seems weird it was fine for over 2k and then suddenly is overfull. I am planning on doing your suggestion, Rich. Next weekend replace oil - that **** darkside!

Are you certain it's coming out the breather and not a leak from somewhere else being blown there?

Positive it's coming from breather. Put in that Royal Purple hypoid oil on last change and the oil coming out the breather is purple, so no question
