Fall '09- Rocket launch - Maggie Valley

just want to clarify that my boot will be OFF by september so i will NOT be driving the support vehicle ..... and, i am a slow rider (we all know my harley can't keep up with the R3 anyway) so i'm happy to hang with those that don't want to fly thru the mountains. just don't want to be left alone on the road :) katie

great job and quick working at this hopefully I can make it up this time, for the last event I was up there the week before it.

Ok guys I think we have our dates September 25th - 28th - I need to get a rough head count before the weekend so I can block out the rooms...Sounds like we should rename this thread to Fall Rocket launch - Maggie Valley NC. Pig9r or Tom is that something you can do or would it be easier for me to start a new thread.
1+1 #16 is mine:D Just confirmed.

Im ready for NC or TX hope I dont wimp out after i get there. NC is always great and the Hill country is some of my backroads. I think the
Welcome To The Machine - Pink Floyd

might be good for background music for rockets.

I will ride with you Katie........Dont worry,IF they want to ride faster they can because even if Ime not sure where I am going I can always get back home....:p I never get lost I just explore new territory......

Done (in)

Personally, I'm Maggie Valley'd out. Perhaps my age, the intensity of the Tail, and the distance to get there are factors in my luke warm attraction to return to MV anytime soon. Selfishly, I understand Three Sisters in the Hill country is worth the trip.

Stripes, I ceterinaly understand it was quite the journey for you and your reasons for not wanting to return this soon you will be missed. I am putting this together as a regional event because there was lots of interest to return to maggie valley in the fall. Not sure who was coordinating the texas hill country ride I have not seen much about that but I am sure it would be great depending on the dates I might make this one also. Have bike will travel.

Stripes, it was TXRIIIRider (Dave) who was initially volunteering to put something together if there was enough interest for the TX Hill Country. But he hasn't volunteered again. Could be that he has too much on his plate right now. Those kids of his keep him and his wife busy.

I have never tried to set something like this up before but could help someone if they were inclined to put something together in this area. Twin Sisters are nice and so is the area down around Camp Wood and Leakey. I have had the impression there are lots and lots of motorcycle friendly places in Central Texas. And the great thing about this area is you don't have to limit yourself to small part of year for good riding weather like some of the northern areas.

I will probably try to attend one of the other gatherings. Just have to figure out which one when all the info is available. I haven't been able to attend any of the ones that have already happened and would like to see some more of our great country.

Katie, Don't worry you most likely won't be the last one in the herd. My honey bear prefers to drag behind and see the sights. In his days he has had to lead so much that he prefers not to and take the relaxing section of the group. And as much as I like speed...I prefer it on straightaways not twisties. I don't have the youth or experience to take those twisties fast. So if we get to attend this one here is two more that will be within sight.
