So I got a quote on an alarm. Nearly £400! As I have gap insurance, no excess and a lock I thought - how about fitting a bit of electrical wizardry to make the alarm indicator on the tach flash so it looks like there is an alarm fitted and active. Of course you'd only want it flashing when the ignition is off.

Anyone know how this could be achieved?

Check around. There are a few pseudo-alarm boxes that have flashing LEDs. It would not be hard to wire this (or another flasher) in to flash the dash light when the bike is not running.

Didn't think of that - I'd just need to buzz out the feeds back to the warnings light from the alarm connector block. Thanks.

This is sounding promising. Keep us posted on your progress!!

Not sure - I need to figure out (a) the right connection on the alarm connector block to feed the LED and (b) something to control the flash rate. The first bit is probably easy (If I had a wiring diagram) - the second bit I am having trouble with - Google not coming up with much!

Yeah - right! That'd be like going in a gay bar with no pants 'cos I got a hairy arse I'll be safe'!!! lol
