Hi all , I’m in need of advice here , I’m stuck in the s of France , I had an issue with my clocks only doing a sweep after starting but seemed ok , then my speedo stopped sweeping and doesn’t work although the engine / oil light ect work , now i thought id try seeing if the relays are ok but on taking the first relay , left hand side of bike looking forwards out and putting it back in every thing is the same but the engine light is staying on .. can any one give me advice ?? .. many thanks Mike .. 2004 rocket

The speedos can die on the 04-09 Rockets afaik, common problem. But as long as it stays running you can get home. 3000rpm is about 77mph in 5th so you can calculate speed from the rpm if you need.

Re the check engine light, if you dont have TuneECU then you could try the nearest auto parts shop, they should have a generic OBD scanner to see what your fault code is.
Google that then for what Triumph associate with that code number

Thank you so much .. I’ve been trying all afternoon if any of the local garages here in France have a OBD scanner but no luck so far , but told me theres a Honda garage in the next town so I’ll go there tomorrow.. I’ve had quite a few people tell me to take it for a good run and there’s a good chance it will go out as the écu will see there’s not a problem.. fingers crossed , can’t believe just disconecting and reconecting a bloody relay would cause such a headache .. it didn’t hell with the speedo either 🙄.. many thanks ! .. Mike

my small scanner just walked off an had to replace it so i chose this
a BOSCH obd 1200 it was about $80 on line
seems like a real nice small scanner
of coarse the tuneecu works great on the rockets.

Yes I think when I get back home I’m going to have to invest in one as I’ve had my rocket 21 years now and the electrics have always been a problème

The 04 version requires a chip enabled cable to make any changes (unless that's changed too). Worth the money to get TuneECU so you can do diagnostics.
