Engine hunting

Ok, I took my bike out for a ride and the check engine light came on.
Hooked it up to Tune ECU and it says Lamba sensor problem.
Tried clearing it on Tune ECU but it keeps coming back on.
Now, the Lamba sensor is the same thing as the O2 sensor right?
So I unchecked the O2 sensor and the engine light is still coming on.

Ok I have reverted back to my original tune and unchecked the O2 sensor and the light is now gone.
Dtgiese, when Wayne did your tune was it with the O2 sensor still attached or disconnected and unchecked?

Crap, it was running nice with your tune Dtgiese
But I can not continue riding with check engine light on.

Hey Mac, it was tuned with the O2 sensor on and I have left it on since with no check engine light. Comparing the tune you were using to mine there are alot of differences not only in the fuel tables but also the Ignition tables. You may consider running the tune for awhile and see if the check engine light will go out after a short time. Your O2 sensor has been seeing a very lean burn and my tune is substantially richer so I don't think it could hurt anything running it for awhile.

Anyway, I finally found the dyno sheet I got from Wayne, it was done early in the tuning process and before we discovered I had an exhaust leak so I know the numbers are a little better but it shows 139.1 BHP and 137.3 Ft/Lbs

Do you think I should put my O2 sensor back on with your tune?
Right now it is running with a bung plug in the Jardines.
Is that what you are doing now with no problems and no check engine light coming on?

Yes I am running with O2 sensor installed and the O2 box checked in TuneEcu. That was how it was tuned and I did ask Wayne if I should remove or uncheck it and he said no. My understanding is the O2 sensor only monitors the low, idle to some other rpm, and thereafter is out of the loop.

I like to experiment, so I did try the PCV with Autotune for awhile using Hanso's tables thinking I might get better fuel mileage but found that it began to have the same issues others have had with hesitation at certain rpm's. The autotune sensor is more sensitive and will monitor and adjust the higher rpm range so I removed it and reprogrammed to my original Wayne Tripp tune. And of course reinstalled the original O2 sensor. Have not had a problem since.

I get around 28 mpg combined, I don't do a lot of highway driving and I can't seem to NOT twist the throttle when I get the chance

The payoff IS the smile on my face every time I ride. Love this bike! The Harley sits on the battery tender and wishes that I will blow the dust off her every now and again. Now that I put the single seat on my Rocket she may not have to wait too long, riding weather is here and my Rose want's to ride! She prefers the Harley for creature comforts.
