I previously had tuneboy working - so tonight I uninstalled it, and loaded the newest version. Tunedit works fine - or seems to, I havent actually loaded any new tune.
Tuneboy diagnostics however - it loads, shows the ecu serial, seems connected and then after about 5 seconds crashes.

Anybody seen this? any quick fix? I alread tried uninstalling and reinstalling again.

Nevermind - I got it working. I followed this exact order of hooking it up.

1. hook cable to laptop
2. start tuneboy diag
3. start bike
4. attach cable to ecu

Weird - oh well.

On a related note - I am just now realizing that I have no way to back up my currently loaded tune? Is this correct? I had previously modified a base tune and loaded it, but the laptop it was saved on is no more. Am I out of luck?

Correct, you are out of luck. Tuneboy cannot retrieve the tune already in the ECU. You're gonna have to try to remember what you did with that base tune. Then back up your files - Murphy's Law...

I believe you can ask tuneboy to retrieve the current tune in your ecu and that is the one you want?

Tune retrieval off the ECU is only available with the Sagem ECU's which I don't believe Triumph uses anymore. All their current bikes including all the Rockets use the Keihn ECU.

Have not gone to this type of add on yet..is this possible cause to go to PC because thats what my dealer is pushing?? Have heard great things fom you all about tuneboy but I don't want any complicated hassels with computor toys...

Tuneboy is 100% more desirable than PC, in my opinion. Even with the occasional quirk that caused me to start this thread.

The only area where a Power Commander is preferable is when you're going to do a custom dyno tune. Otherwise, Tuneboy lets you remove all restrictions whereas PCIII does not remove any. It can only modify the fuel/air delivery.

After re-reading my question I don't know how the hell you managed to understand and answer back...I guess my next task is to find another vendor to hook me up...
