Just noticed my clutch is starting to slip. :x

Checked the free play on the cable, even backed it off to about 3-4mm of play to be sure.
Only does it in top on full throttle but it's definitely there.

What are my options regarding upgrades?
I've read about the lock up clutch some people have but I'm on a bit of a budget so can rule that one out.
I'm not planning to go much past the current level of tune (TORS/Triumph tune)

I see Barnett do a kit but that comes complete with the metal plates too which seems like a bit of a con.
Anybody do an uprated set of friction plates and springs?

If not anyone know what a set of friction plates will set me back from Triumph?
 
Anybody used the EBC clutch plates? £80 for a set of friction plates with uprated springs.
 
I was quoted about £240 before vat and that was just for the friction plates and steel plates between. The springs and bolts are extra. Add on a lube change, casing gasket, coolant change, 'O' rings for the water pump and chromed feed tube on the front of the engine, finally the washers for the three drain plugs (if you are going the full change and filter).
I would change the steel plates every time the friction plates are shot anyway. If the clutch is slipping then those plates are getting hot and will invariably warp ( check for blueing on the steel plates).
The Barnett clutch kit comes with uprated springs included so no extra charge. As I knew the springs were uprated I bought a new lifter shaft, even though the old one looked pretty good. Some owners have stated that the stronger springs may have been the reason that their lifter shafts had broken. The gasket is only about £10. 8)
 
I understand what you are saying but cannot see the justification of replacing the steels everytime you change the clutch.
That's like changing your brake discs everytime you change the pads!

I will of cource check condition before refitting.

I have used EBC clutch kits on customers and my own bikes before with good results, none of them put out the torque the rocket does though so would like to hear from someone who has used them.

I'll price up OEM plates on Monday and make a decision. Either way I'll use the EBC springs as they are 10% stiffer than stock.

I've heard about the clutch lifter shaft problems; did Triumph update the design of them?

Yes, but even the later ones struggle with uprated clutch springs......ask Perds :shock:
 
I used to have lockup but now have
MTC plates they have a lot more fibre contact area
My 220hp/186ftlb has not managed to force it to slip yet
 
Fridge they were 125.70 USD plus shipping to me and they also have a set of springs with 20.5% more tension then the Triumph ones.

I don't think they have them listed I believe it was about 16.00 USD or so to post to the UK I sent Les his. Let me know I can arrange a set for you.
 
Ah, they'll work out about the same as the EBC's then...
