It will be easy to tell if you have had the update. your cam blade tensioning side will be aluminum not black and mad of some type of nylon/ phrnalic material coated over some spring steel.

In the picture below the bottom guide is off my 06 classic and the 07 motor I bought had the same in it. The upper ones are the replacement.

(not the broken upper one)

Here is a shot with the new style in my 06 the non rubbing side (non adjustable) has not changed over the years.

dealer had all the parts but the lifter piece. He told me they don't change that unless it's bad. I told him all the old style were bad. It's on it's way. I got it all apart in less the 2 hrs. So now I wait

Scott, you should be collecting commission from Triumph and this site!

Nice work.

look on the bottom of the lifter pieces head and see if you see some nicks in it. I noticed them in mine when the liftershaft broke. IMO sense both pieces are hardened if the lifter piec has some nicks in it it might cause a wearing action on the new shaft so I change it. After all its not expensive plus if I break a lifter shaft I just call and order everthing before I tear it down. If I don't need the part on my shelf it goes for when I do or sometimes when people can not get the piece I just sell them the new one I have on the shelf.

In fact now that I have gone thru my parts I see I have the lifter shaft and clutch cover gasket but no extra lifter piece gues what I am ordering tomorrow along with two new fog light brakets. Can you believe it I just had my second OEM one break. I don't think they were made to run over 150 mph as they keep fatigued and fracture

all back together and it feels great. While I waited I changed the plugs 65k and they looked great. Now to work on the exhaust. I think the top of the cat blew open with all the popping it does when I let the throtle go. Someday I will try the tuneecu. But only when I'm with someone that has done it.

the lifter piece looked good but the lifter shaft had nicks on the edge of the slot. The new Piece is much better fitting in the slot so I don't see this happening again.
