Has anyone else noted that the clutch engagement is so much broader after the Carpenter buid with replacement of the clutch springs with the heavy duty ones?
I have to pull the lever all the way back to the bar now to shift and the engagement is progressive until full release. I have no issue with this but am curious to know WHY and whether or not the rest of you that have Carpenter's build experience the same thing. It seems that the heavy duty springs have a much longer throw...Yes?

My clutch pull is definiely more stiffer; but I haven't really noticed a difference with the actual engagement of it. Not that I can recollect anyway.

Do you have too much slack in the cable; when the clutch is released (checking the freeplay at the clutch lever on the crankcase)? Too much play would be doing what you're experiencing....

yeah mine is definitely harder on the left hand in city traffic. when i got the rocket it had a nice gradual and predictable bite but then a week later the tech doing the headlight relay warranty job adjusted the clutch to what i thought was too sudden and far out of a bite point but it turns out that that was correctly adjusted clutch, according to the manual. so yeah too much free play will give a smoother and longer bite

Maybe I gave the wrong impression. The engagement is VERY smooth and progressive but starts at the very beginning of the release of the lever from fully pulled back to the bar and is VERY BROAD until fully engaged at the end of its travel.. No complaints at all...just different than stock. I have about 2mm free play at the lever so not too much.
