clutch basket removal 07 classic

Is it absolutely necessary to use the clutch basket tool to remove the clutch basket. I read where if you use a impact driver you dont need the tool. Please advise. I cannot seem to find anything on this topic using the search tool on this site.

Problem with that is, how are you going to re tighten it?
Using an impact for that is iffy at best.

You can make a holding tool out of one old steel ring and one old fiber ring by bolting them together in the proper alignment.

just put the bike in 5th gear with rear wheel on ground, and have someone stand on rear brake
