So after nearly 3000 miles on the new scoot I am thinking of washing the thing. Is anyone using anthing special on the the aluminum parts or just good ole soap and water? The manual says to use a proprietary type of aluminum cleaner without abrasives. All the aluminum cleaning products I can find are cleaner/polishers so they must contain abrasives. Also googling the issue one place says use glass cleaner another says never use glass cleaner. Thoughts?

I have been using this since day 1. Many folks think my 2006 bike is new.

Occasionally I wash the bike with warm water using liquid car wash wiping with a micro fiber rag.

I use the house brand, Spit & Elbow Grease . Plus a good quality car wash soap like Meguire’s or Mother’s brands will suit you fine. They are formulated to protect the delicate parts attached to your massive engine.

For cleaning :
  • Mixa or Mustela cleaning (baby/skin) milk for the painted parts and seat (very, very cheap price)
  • WD40 for the non-painted metal parts (which I also use for lubricating e.g. the kick stand, pedal brake...)
  • If needed to wet it : Mixa baby shampoo then above.
  • Citrus (cleaner spray 75-17) for heavy grease stains on the non-painted metal parts
To make it shine on metal and non-metal with silicone protection :

To protect the seat against rain : punctually a bit of "seal" grease

agree- this stuff is great; i use if after the wash with microfiber really provides a nice shine and sealant. for the wash i've used this stuff below it is endorsed/recommended by triumph

i used soap and water on new rocket already. Before I used a truck wash and pre soak for 30-40 min if was very dirty then hose off.
I also put a coat of ceramic straight after factory floor. Now all dust just comes off when i ride :) recommend it

OMG three grand and just now washing it?

I started by an alcohol wipe and The Last Coat while it was still at the dealer. I went out and ran into salty roads so I wake it with the soap from the same company and will detail it with Amp from the same company. I like a clean well protected bike.

On aluminum I use the same products. You don’t want an abrasive cleaner on any part.

Yea I ride the thing much more than I wash it. And we have no salt on the roads to worry about. Thanks for the input on the cleaning products.

Oh, and keep in mind it has not even been rained on.
