Charity ride

hell if he doesnt then i will, but im sure jimmy will, he doesnt want me giving him hell everyday, i have more attorneys that im sure will help out to!!! Lets make this work!!!!

What part Deanna, the dollar a mile donation,
or the Walmart waste into fuel part?
I'm for both.
Talked to my buddy Ernie and he put in a 3 way call to his millionaire supporter,
the guy that actually had the scientist come up with this closed loop fuel plant plan.
they're still very interested and want to talk.
I told them you were going to speak before congress and were in indisposed
for a couple of weeks till you get back.
Don't see any reason why we're still working, I want to "retire" and ride my bike year round.
That sounds like a legit plan to me, lets get this done.....
Come to think of it, a dollar a mile, year round,,,
might be able to raise some serious cash that way...;)

Your heart is in the right place, My MC club does three big poker runs a year for the ageing and caring I donate my time to all three runs plus more little fund raisers that we have.
When I go to the RAA meets this is my time for me myself and I, not being cold hearted but I do not like the idea and I hope everyone supports some sort of charity by attending local poker runs(please check what they are for) just my two bobs worth.

wow, there is more people in need than just the 3 rides you donate to a year! Jesse an i ride with all the charity rides we can an donate more than asked for, so dont be so stingy, think of others! ;)

All the stuff my club does for charity would not fit in the space provided;) as you can see from the reponse to this thread although noble in thought I think that it would be to big an adventure to pull off but the best of luck to you.
At the last couple of RAA meets a a few poker runs were being held by local groups and not one rider showed the least bit of interest in attending one?
The best of luck if you can pull it off.

If you want it to be tax deductible you would have to fall under a 501C3. There is a lot of info at CharityNet USA - NonProfit & Charity Resource Center about it. the easiest way to work this is get the charity you are going to give the money to to sponsor the event and give out receipts. Let them handle all the money.

make sure you watch out for the local Gambling laws. All money accepted are donations for entrance and is not for the poker hand. Poker hands are free, otherwise it's gambling. Which could be illegal in the state or require a license.

getting large companies, like walmart, to donate for these is hard. small companies usually love to help.

another way to raise money is have businesses donate say $100 for the charity and they can display a banner at the event. you would be suprised how many companies will do this.

Plus to do this CORRECTLY I recommend having it registered with the AMA and buying the AMA insurance for the event, have the route pre-planned with each stop safe for the riders to dismount draw cards have a water break et etc etc.
Not saying that this is the case but most people who attend poker runs do not know the amount of work that goes into planning a poker run.
We attend a meeting once a year to hammer out the dates for all the poker runs for those groups who do not attend they usually end up with four or five poker runs in the same area on the same day and the outcome is they end up with more expenses than money collected and the planned charity gets nothing.

oh, and don't forget about the waivers everyone has to sign stating ?????? is not liable for any injury ect.
