Can Am Spyder

Test rode the Spyder today, and I have to say that it's impressive. It's got plenty of low end torque and will smoke the back tire at will. It drives like a sports car with handle bars. My wife drove as well, and really liked it. We are strongly considering getting one for her ( I might have to ride it from time to time). I'll keep y'all posted.

Did you ride (drive?) the yellow one or the silver?
Cool, at least it has reverse.
Wonder how it would be for long hauls. Think that 1000cc motor would hold up?
Is it water cooled?

The owner of the store told of a Spyder dealer who rode his from Quebec to Dallas pulling a trailer and had 74k on it at the time. I don't think my wife will put that much demand on one. It is water cooled, and I drove a matt/& gloss black one. Mrs. Snuff wants a red one.

Thanks so much, Tony. lol. Since my wife is my feminine side, and it would be her bike, I'm okay with the pink. Although it would affect how much I rode it. Now on the other hand, if I was your size, I would ride it and dare some one to make a comment.

will a spyder go right under the infamous Texas whitetail?

I would think it would flip one right over with that front end and avoid any major damage. Maybe with the TonyMac special color scheme they would avoid it altogether!

On a serious note, I worked with BRP a few years ago on this machine, they put lots of effort into it. I think it is a good one.

On one of our RatRides last summer we had six Spyders with us. Every one who rode them (4 men/2 woman) loved them. They all also ride bikes but said since they got the Can-Am's it's all they ride.

You know deer can't see pink/ orange very well. I'll pull up beside deer all of the time in my orange car, and they look right through it as if it wasn't there.

There is a fellow on the other side of town that has a butter stick yellow one and I was intrigued so last summer I went to the dealer in Toledo and test rode one myself...a yellow one. They are impressive but somehow, for me, it sems more like a car than a motorcycle. I didn't ride it long enough to really get aclimated with it, just a few miles.

I came away with the impression that if I was to ever get one, I'd still have to have 2 wheels as well. I like Piaggio MP3 as well. It's a lot less money (of course it's not nearly as fast or as big) but the principles are the same.

My stumbling point with the Can-Am is just like the Rocket...Dealer network and reliability, plus it's a complicated vehicle, even more so that the Rocket. I can see it being a good lady's bike, but it somehow lacks the masculinity of the Rocket, which is probably right up Snuff's alley.....
