Cam Chain Tensioner Adjustment

Low mileage, standard bike,ridden gently. Joe got a complete lemon. It's been back in the shop like every 6000kms since he bought it. Final straw recently was the ecu packed up! ( we think it was never quite right from new & may have caused a few of the problems by incorrect fuelling..due to ecu error)
 
Oh Btw, his wasn't the only rocket to suffer gudjeon pin failure tho, another guy, Noel, ( very steady careful rider) had the same issue. Fixed under warranty , along with the usuall tranny upgrade. He's not had any other issues tho.
 

Thanks Warp, I will give that a go. I figure they must manufacture the tool and the plug for a reason......Maybe I am that reason........

I have an 06 and a 07 engine one came with the plug one without. on the tool if it bottoms out the spring pressure is not enough so in the hole the plug goes. Like I said I have had mine out and it held in there fine. Just don't go banging around in there and you will be fine.

Usually what we yanks call "wrist pins" wear out prematurly from (1) Poor materials. (2) Some type of lube failure. (3) Excessive lugging of the engine at low rpm's . It's fun to let it grunt but I refrain for just that reason. Would be interested to know if it's an isolated thing or someone's riding habits or what.
 
Anyone else out there had that problem? ( seen it in 2 local bikes here) & yeah I always change down a gear rather than labor the engine.
