Cam chain - 'paint tin rattle'

I'm trying to decide on a choice for buying a good second-hand Rocket3/Classic which is proving a little tricky....


Can those who have had the cam chain problem tell me at what mileage it started, and, what year model Rocket they owned?

Just got back from a 4000km trip through BC, Alberta, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, BC.

Rattle appeared sometime during trip. I'm now up to 41,500km's

It's still under warrantee. I'm going to push for that ton's of parts kit.

I have an 05 with 18000 miles on it. Mine started with about 8k miles on it. Last year, under warranty the dealer put a new cam chain gear and chain, that worked for about six months. Rattle came back, so I called my dealer the other day and they are putting more upgraded parts in, new blades and installing a spacer in the tensioner. This is being done 9 months out of warranty and Triumph is picking up the tab.
