I see all these great ideas on what to do to my bike. But not sure what order to do it in.

My first item is to get more out of my bike on the top end. Talked to my dealer but their dyno has been out for ever.

So...what are the things i need to do to increase top end...and what order do i do them in. I cant do everything at once.

I would like to recommend TuneECU. There is a bunch of threads on here on how to install it on the computer, get the right cable to hook your bike to the computer, and maybe recommend a good tune. TuneECU will remove the speed limiter if it hasn't already been removed. Technically it won't remove it but you can set it up to like 199 mph. My Roadster would limit at 125 mph but not anymore. That's just one of the many functions that can be had with TuneECU. Also remove the secondary butterflies.

TuneECU & cable is the best investment you can make for your bike for many reasons.
Remove the air plumbing and get a decent set of air filters.
Ask @HansO nicely for a good tune to install with TuneECU, and then install it.
If you want more, then spend money on the exhaust system.
If you want even more, then parts from OZ or Carpenter.

Seconding @idk here.

First, new TuneECU tune, replace the air intake plumbing with Ramair or triple K&Ns, the exhaust with one of several available.

Now on to you wanting more top end, Carpenter Racing does a lot of top end work, raising the redline to 9,000 rpm, and it's all detailed on their website. Neville Lush may do it, and the exchange rates are great for buying Australian stuff right now, but you'd have to shoot him an e-mail to see what he's got.

I see you've posted in the R3T Derestricting thread already. Derestricting is the 1st thing to do.
I'm in Fort Worth but if you get up this way I have a cable and didn't have any problems updating mine.

I have D&D slip-on mufflers. But, haven't switched to triple filters yet. Probably will try it after the valve check.

Anyway, mine has outpulled more than one CVO HD easily. Runs to a buck 25 like a thorough-bred. She's stable at that speed with no issues but my own risk aversion.

If you're looking for power on a budget; that may be all you need. NOTHING will match $$ to power like derestricting.

The derestricting thread turns it into a completely different bike, lots of grunt, especially low. An another Ottawa captain got his touring dynoed, said he lost some bottom end , but had more on the top, he makes about 20 more hp than me. As the others said, try that tune first, then go from there, best $20 I ever spent.:D

Ok, so this is not my area of expertise, so correct me if I'm wrong. wouldn't you want to upgrade the exhaust before you upgrade the intake? my thinking being that the additional breathing in ability would be restricted by the lack of additional exhaust capability?

Yep, spot on, exhaust is the restriction after doing the secondary and ignition fix via a new tune.

Budget build, think I'd go with CES or Viking header into stock crossover/muffler's until budget allows for improved crossover and better flowing muffler's.

Then RAMAIR/triple filters.

From there it's Neville, Carpenter, TTS, or Boostisgood. Neville has a well priced cam that will get you good power without too much fuss.
