Silver motor is easy.. black output shaft casing, but on the black motor impossible I would say as all but the ign coils are internal mods..

You're talking about the drive shaft? I have an 05 with a silver motor and the drive shaft is black

How can I tell by a glance if the update kit has been installed?

2008 does not need the update. By then the factory had fixed all the issues. The only thing the 2008 will need is the Eastern Beaver headlight solenoids. From the factory the power for both headlights is fed through the ignition switch, which leads to failure of the ignition switch. The kit from Eastern Beaver is about $75 and takes about an hour or less to install. That is all an 08 and up will need to be totally dependable.

Its the Engine/gearbox casing .. housing the output shaft bearing, before the drive shaft assy.. mine was done in 2009

Yea I always thought they built a custom reversed exhaust manifold and hung it like a blower! That would be way too hot on your right leg. Under the bike now,,,that's interesting. I wonder how the heat will affect the starter long term?

The under the bike turbo kit is by Boost is good. the one mounted on the right side by the exhaust ports is the eco cycle kit

Dennsel is the out put case black because you can not get it in silver anymore or did they just order the wrong kit?
