Went to start the Rocket after two weeks and it’s always on the Optimate charger to take it for a new TFT screen and it wouldn’t start ,checked battery terminals changed the key fob battery but still didn’t work held the fob by the left side rear mudguard and it started.
I had to get to the bike shop for the appointment so didn’t have time to do anything else, has anyone had similar and what’s the cure?TIA

Are you sure you have the FOB turned on? I turn mine off to save the battery and will from time to time forget to turn it back on until the bike acts like the FOB is missing.

I believe the fob antenna is under the front cowl . Any work done under the cowl recently that could have disturbed the antenna? Also if I have other keys in my pocket with the fob my bike won't start. And at filling stations that may have other interference. It's very finicky at times.

If you have two fobs for the same bike in your pocket you can also have this problem. My Speed Triple is different enough I don't need to turn it off when I ride my Rocket, but that may not be true for everyone else.

Sometimes it works if you turn it on, wait a second then press the starter and keep it pressed 3-5 seconds. Happened to me, reported by Boneville riders too. Folklore says it happens more often in cold weather. Folkrore also says it will usually start at the second trial. Suspicions about Canbus, various corroded contacts, signals errors and stability. This is no longer an electrical harnessed bike but an electronic one. There's no indicator relay and no brake lights contact... everything is controlled by its ECUs: instruments, ABS, engine ECU. Early models' issues with indicators seemed to be solved with software updates. I plan thorough cleaning and greasing of all connectors during overhaul. And btw, FOB battery contact is pressfit on the PCB but can move. Fixed it with PCB circuit repair conductive ink pen and never had issues with FOB again.
