No speed zone probably because its a major arterial road.
His lane would have had a red light further back but if he was in the lanes on his left they would have had a green light to turn left.
He might have just f*C*ed up by looking at the wrong lights.
No braking might also indicate an inexperienced rider.
Even when I'm on green through an intersection I'm usually checking out for cars coming through the red to kill me.
