Hi guys - my Rocket 3 tourer (2008 bought used) has a radiator protector fitted - looks great but is aftermarket. I appreciate that it could save the rad in the event of something hitting it, but do I run the risk of overheating? Unfortunately there is no temp gage, the fan kicks in at very low speed (it has been in the nineties here). Any thoughts :?:would be appreciated, thanks for a great forum :?:

It depends on the aftermarket protector.
Does it look like the one on this bike?

If so you should not have any problems with over heating. IF you think you fan is turning on to early or to late you need to plug into the ecu and see what the program temps are. Also you can monitor it via tune boy to see if it is following the programmed cycle.

when you say low speed, if you mean around town/traffic then fan will come on a lot without the cover too

Sounds like it's doing what it is supposed to so I'm not worried anymore - wonderful machine, hopefully it works out to be realiable too, thanks guys:thumbsup:
