I want to ride over this bridge. Any Europeon riders been there? Hombre, you spend time in Spain.

The Millau Viaduct is part of the new E11 expressway connecting
Paris and Barcelona and features the highest bridge piers ever
constructed. The tallest is 240 meters (787 feet) high and the
overall height is an impressive 336 meters (1102 feet), making this
the highest bridge in the world. It is taller than the Eiffel Tower .
Intriguingly, the Millau Viaduct is not straight. A straight road could induce
a sensation of floating for drivers, which a slight curve remedies. The curve
is 20km in range. Moreover, the road has a light incline of 3% to improve
the visibility and reassure the driver.
It is an amazing engineering feat!

The Millau Viaduct spans the valley of the Tarn river near Millau in Southern France. We rode across it 2 Summers ago during our moto-trip through France. You get the sensation of flying even without mind altering substances. I highly recommend motorcycling in the Dordogne and Loire valleys as well. :)

I second what Hombre says:) The irony is that the --magnificent-- bridge which was basically supposed to reduce traffic congestion in the valley has now turned into a major touristic attraction. Generating traffic jams in and by itself all summer long. Jamie:cool:

Does anyone ever freeze up on that span? (As in fear of heights freeze up?)

And how many morons have jumped off of it? If it was in Missouri I'd have to fish off of it.

Hombre,

Do you live in that part of the world? If not, did you ride your bike? What I'm leading up to is,... I was wondering how much it would cost to ship a bike over to europe for vacation.... or not.

We spend part of each year at our home in Mallorca, Spain. Here is the service I have used to ship bike to Europe. At that time you had to ship from Canada, not USA. Something about motor vehicles in crates aboard airliners forbidden by USA Homeland Security.

Motorcycle Services - Ship Your Bike

I used their service one way, paid about $1700 Montreal to Paris. Then traded that stock R3 for a nice BMW in Spain! :D

Unbelievable

That is truly a construction marvel. I have a bad phobia of crossing high bridges. You wouldn't be able to get me across that thing if I was being chased by an escaped 6'9'' anal rapist named Bubba leading a pack of hungry pit bulls.
