50 States ranking for motorcycle ownership

Third winter in a row I never missed a month of riding with my Rocket, in the Buffalo, NY area. When the snow gets deep I merely change bikes. It's all about motivation. :D

You just have to learn to ride in the wet stuff. Thanks to Rainman I start smiling when it starts raining now. Daddy Rabbit led us into a torrential tornado last year too. We sat in a restaurant and there was a large puddle on the floor where I was seated. They were very nice and did not throw me out. Smokehouse on the edge of Landrum S. C. And the food is great btw.

Regardless of the per capita numbers, I would swear they all end up here every summer and fall.

You do have a fine place to ride and it's different than out here in the west.
I hit a fair amount of hard rain last July when in your area. Dripping wet then the sun pops out and dries you up.
Not too bad in warm weather - not so much when in the 40's. Sure wish I had a Star Trek Transporter . . .

Excellent point. When I moved here 36 years ago I rode all year. For several years I didn't own a car. Now, that I've reached that 'old people' status I park the bike for the majority of the summer.

But you still be riding 9+ months a year, no?

Yup, but if it wasn't for those three months everybody would live here.

I like it down there - for visiting.
The Flagstaff area would be better for riding. To me, it's too flat, straight and crowded in the Phoenix area.

I prefer the Show Low, Alpine, Springerville area for riding. The nice thing is we're only an hour or so from great riding roads and don't have to deal with the snow and cold that comes from 7000 ft altitudes. The Phoenix area is where you ride from, not in. If its too cold to ride north or east, southern Arizona has some nice riding areas, again, only a couple of hours away.

Arizona has all the old people coming to this state to get out of the cold troughs off the count.
after we have rode most of the year not too many people wants to ride in 110 degrees(in the shade) temperature. even the 10 mile ride from work stopping for red lights is hard to enjoy!

Man, I sure wish you had 'em all!

Unfortunately; the dammyankees here outnumber us natives. They're actually surprised when they find out you're "from here."

I lived in Dallas in the late 70s when it was booming, I only ever met one person that was born and raised there. We were all Yankees.
