2012 R3R-Engine Knocking/Ping around 2000 RPM

Good day guys,

I recently sold my 2020 Rocket 3 GT and bought a 2012 Rocket 3 Roadster with only 10000 Kms. During the first ride, I noticed that it has Engine Knock/ping around 2000 RPMs. It happens slightly when I launch the bike, and then it happens whenever I try to accelerate it in second or third gear under load, with RPM around 2000-2200. I tried a couple of different tunes from Tuneecu but no luck. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this issue and what the fix was. Any help is much appreciated.

You say under load. Bad tunes for bike, timing sounds off, if its not the fuel. What tunes did you try? The more info people get they may be able to help. Cooter had a couple good ones,

Thank you all for chiming in. Adding some more details- Bike is all stock. I am using 87 Grade Gas from Chevron in Canada. Ping is happening all the time, not just when the bike is cold. It doesn't go away when hot. I tried the following tunes from TuneEcu site. Stock O2 sensors enabled in both tunes.

The second one by penner should work maybe like turbo said exhaust leak, can you rule that out?

I can check for exhaust leaks. Interestingly,Penner’s tune didn’t work well for me. After 12 minute tune, bike’s idle rpm dropped and I had hard time accelerating bike from get go. Felt bogged down or needing more air. Every time I twisted the throttle while riding, it would hesitate to accelerate. So, I flashed the other tune that I mentioned and it is better.

How can I test that? I ran all the diagnostics on tuneecu and didn’t find any issues.
