I’ve always heard that the grey or silver engines were only in the 04 and 05 years. yesterday I saw a 07 posted for sale with the light colored engine. When I questioned the guy he said it was a 07 purchased like that. Any ideas?

Yes, there were some 07 models. It probably has bags and a windshield and a few other things as well.

Thanks . Exactly. Foot boards windshield and other small factory add ons. I really haven’t seen a silver 07 before.

Im gonna bring a 07 grey thick grey like somebody tried to to touch up at some point in its life. A fella posted a silver engine the paint on the inside had a come a part, that was probably oddball as silverbacks running strong all over.

And a good indicator that it has had the out put bearing updated is if it has a slightly different gray/silver coloured replacement case cover that came as part of the update kit.
There is also black case version too with same bearings.
If the color is same it may still have been upgraded by someone without changing the case cover which holds the bearing and only got damaged if your bearing had already ceased or they butchered it getting it out!;):roll:.

If anyone needs a Silver kit I have a new old stock one in the shed and can point you to black case ones online too.

As others have said, the Classic Tourer was a short lived model released only in 2007. A lot of people like to call the Touring a Tourer but the only actual Tourer was the 2007 Classic Tourer and it had a silver engine. The Classic variant was released in ‘06 along with the switch to the a black engine. The touring package was then put together in ‘07 and was partly used to offload left-over grey motors.
In 2009 Standard models were also offered with a touring package (screens, backrests and panniers) to help run them out ahead of the Roadster launch in 2010.
