2010 Triumph Thunderbird

From a distance, this 2010 Thunderbird looks like a parallel-twin forced into a potentially profitable V-shaped hole in Triumph's lineup. Heading out of Barcelona on the Autopista del Nordeste with Friday-morning traffic, proximity delivers a more accurate perspective. This is a vertical-twin. But thudding along at 2500 rpm in its overdrive top cog, the new 98 cubic-incher feels like a well-mannered modern cruiser's V-twin. This, as you might expect, is no accident. Unlike just about any other factory you can name, Hinckley couldn't build a V-twin. But whatever they came up with had to stand out from everything else on the street.

I just saw one at my dealer's. It looks like a big Bonnie. Very nice.

I just went and checked it out at my local dealer today too. It is a nice bike. If it had been available when I bought my Rocket, I might have ended up with the T-Bird instead, but I don't think I would trade my Rocket for it. If I ever get rid of the Rocket, it will be for a full blown tourer ala Electra Glide, GoldWing, etc for comfortable two-up touring...

My fiance said it looked smaller than the Rocket. Nearly everything is. Nothing compares. If I had the money for a T-Bird, I'd probably get a new Rocket.

saw it a few weeks ago with britman and teadragger.

BOOOOOOORING.

Saw my first today.

We were on a ride today when we stopped at a small town for a soda pop. Across the street sat a black/black bike (Triumph) that I thought was an America. Upon closer inspection it was indeed the T-Bird.
I talked to the owner who explained that he purchased the bike through the internet from a London Dealership having the bike delivered states side and took possession three weeks ago. This bike was indeed the first one registered in Washington State.
Nice looking machine. He did not get the big bore kit, nor did he have a windshield or many other pieces of eye candy on it. Still...a very nice looking machine. The owner said he was getting slightly over 50 MPG and had just over 2K miles on it. He ownes two other Bonnies and said he likes the T-Bird so much he is thinking about ordering another one.
His only complaint....he has recieved a speeding ticket with it already. He stated that the bike likes running 70+ in high gear.
I wonder how many he would have if he were an R3 Owner...SB...
