My thoughts exactly TallTx... changing the final drive ratio would enable drag starts in first, rather than second, and give you a lower cruising RPM. Also would increase top speed for those with the HP.
Mass produced automotive rears (gears) are quite reasonable due to volume of production... I have no idea what a small run of custom gears for the R3 would be, but I'd like to find out.
I think it could be an interesting mod. Even as close to stock as mine is, it's bouncing off the rev limiter before you can blink when you nail it in first. My darkside rear tire helps that some, as it is a tad taller than the Metz. Dropped my 65 mph cruising speed by about 200 rpm.
