    R3T Trailer Wire Routing

Glad to help. FWIW, I also replaced the hardware they shipped with stainless metric versions. M8 for the L-bracket-to-crossbar and coupler-to-crossbar attachments, M6 for the L-bracket-to-bag mount. It bugs me a little when companies ship SAE hardware to be mounted on a metric vehicle.

    R3T Trailer Wire Routing

The hitch itself is on a bar that replaces the one between the back of the saddle bags. This is reinforced by heavy 'L'-shaped plates that connect to the bottom of the saddle bag mounts. You can also see my wire routing choice along the backrest rail and down the bag mount. In the second...

    R3T Trailer Wire Routing

I'm going to be installing a hitch when it gets here (Bushtec says next week some time). I have the Kuryakyn 7671 trailer light relay set and a PDM60 to protect the bike. My question is this: How have other people routed the wiring harness to the back of the bike: tucked under the fender with...

LED flasher Problem Rocket III Touring

It appears to me that either late in final test of the new design or early in the production run they had quality control issues which caused them to add the protective diode to prevent damage to the instrument panel. Exactly what those QC issues were is hard to say. Perhaps they had problems...

LED flasher Problem Rocket III Touring

That's interesting, they made a design change sometime during the production run. Here's my dash:

LED flasher Problem Rocket III Touring

Remove the instrument panel, connect pin 9 of the harness to +12V and turn on R or L turn signal. Since the signals light up but do not blink, the 'Diode Pack' cannot be the flasher unit. I cede the argument. Hats off to you sir!

I'm fine either way this comes out. How can I verify your analysis?

LED flasher Problem Rocket III Touring

After getting frustrated, I took a day off, which for me is sometimes a good move, especially when it is going to be weeks before the ice clears from my driveway.:whitstling: DEcosse was correct about the lamp socket. The LEDs I bought have bases which are more square than the OEM bulbs, I...

LED flasher Problem Rocket III Touring

I did reverse the rears to no avail, and with the original bulbs back in, it still doesn't work, leading me to believe that the flasher module is toast. The service manual has no actual relay in the turn signal circuit, and the one under the right rear that the service manual claims is the...

LED flasher Problem Rocket III Touring

Is that the relay behind the right side cover on the touring? Or is there another unit somewhere else?

LED flasher Problem Rocket III Touring

So... before I read this thread, I replaced the left front turn signal with an LED. It worked OK but had a fast blink as expected (I didn't have a flasher in hand to try that yet). So I replaced the left rear, which caused no blinking at all. Then I replaced right rear, with LED, and no blinking...

    Oil tank empty after layup

It seems to me that for peace of mind one could either: 1) Crank the engine a bit with the kill switch on. This would move some oil from the sump to the tank before you start it. 2) Add a cup (250ml) of oil to the tank to ensure that the pressure pump has enough oil to work with while the...

    Red 2015 Rocket III Touring

Hi All, Just brought home my 2015 R3T last Saturday. It had 825 miles. Looking forward to getting to know it and some of you better. I traded in a 2006 Yamaha Venture that I put 54K on from new. The power difference is... well... you know!
