Thought I'd post pics of the process. They started yesterday. I replaced the passenger section with an aluminum plate back when I first got the bike. Different tail bags bolt on to it. I also found an old Corbin backrest from about 25 years ago that had been kicking around. I figured out a way to mount that, and also make a "pin" with a slot that locks the seat down. That pin was on the passenger section that I removed. I've been riding around with an airhawk and a sheepskin because the stock seat is just to narrow for me. I think it (and Corbin as well) are about 14" wide. The RDL is 18" I think. Anyway, I'll post the progress of them making a solo seat for the bike. Yesterday they had the back started with the pass. section opening filled in.

I had made a one day ride in appointment with Russell Cycle Products for my return trip back from WA to CA last fall for a custom seat. I wound up cancelling since the stock seat is actually super comfy for me even on long days which is unheard of for stock. So I saved myself a chunk of money but if/when I do want to go that route they're the only shop I would get a seat from.

Yeah, everybody's butt is different for sure. The stocker was to narrow for me. The edges dug into the bottom of my thighs. I got by with an air hawk and a sheepskin, but I wanted a permanent solution that also looked nice. I just hope its as comfy as it looks in the pics.

Finally got the seat. Why are the things you want to get the most "delayed" and "processing"? Feels good. The backrest has a little feeling of keeping you from sitting back far enough. But then you realize your arms are straight out to the bars. So any further back would be holding on with your finger tips sitting against the backrest. So I'll leave it for a while. Found a nice tail bag for day rides that fits pretty good with the backrest. Saddlemen. FTB 1000 Saddlemen FTB 1000 Sissy Bar Bag - 3515-0138 - Dennis Kirk
