So I want to replace my handlebar. Was disappointed to find that triumph uses a fake 1" bar. But I still want to proceed; however I'm having issue with removing the throttle housing. There is not enough space to unclip the throttle wire. Only thing I can think of is to unscrew the bottom housing but the screws on the bottom appears to be some kind of security screw. To me it looks like security bolts on a screen door that is designed to only be driven in and can't be unscrcrewed, only cut out.

I've seen 1 or 2 on here who have switched their bars. How do I unclip the throttle wire and/or remove the bottom piece of the throttle housing?

I have put TFC handlebar on 3R but later sold it because I had no risers to accommodate the longer brake lines.

if you are replacing handlebar, then you need to disconnect the connection from below the front screen. can you show more pictures where you are at in the process?

there is no such screw bolt anywhere on handlebar like screendoor which is only one time remove/install. it can be removed and installed several times.

I went at it without consulting the repair manual.

The screws are at the bottom of the throttle housing. They hold the bottom throttle housing to the throttle control unit. These 2 screws are one direction; only screws in. I did mange to take them out with the bit in the picture and some elbow grease.

Then I discovered the throttle wires can't be disconnected from the throttle unit...all the other wires can be disconnected from the handlebar controls, but this one needs to be done in reverse from the front at the flyscreen.

It's all taken apart now... just need to find a welder...I want to be able to adjust the handlebar inward to make the bike narrower for lane splitting and easier turn ins

i have never seem a security bolt in a Philips head (what a piece) replace with torx type .
i do not know if this will work or not but with the bars loose could you first install the grips ect before mounting the bars on the forks that way you would have room to move it back and forth?

Yes, another rotten idea from Triumph to force its customers to go to the dealership...it's becoming really annoying!!!

OP did not need to open those yellow screws for handlebar removal. you dont need to unscrew them. only need to remove the philips, I added my photo below in red circle

if ever somehow you feel the need to remove the yellow ones you need one of the bits below.

Yep, learned that I didn't need take apart the throttle unit. I did need to take off the back side of the light control switch housing and ignition control housing because I don't have the "special tool." Just another way for triumph to try and keep things proprietary I guess.

But after all that work I found the new bar to sit up too high for my taste. Taking off the bar end mirrors still does not give me the clearance I'm looking for...going to have to keep looking for better bars...love the rocket but thinking I should've gotten the 1200rr
